Nathan Harrison-Clarke

BA (Hons), MA, MRes, AFHEA

Nath is a PhD Researcher at the University of Nottingham School of Sociology and Social Policy. His focus lies in contemporary lived religion and its intersection with sexuality and gender. His PhD research delves into the lived realities of LGBTQ+ Buddhists in Britain. He is also founder of The PhD Place.

Education

Nathan achieved a BA(Hons) in Philosophy and Religion and English Literature at Bangor University where he received the Danby Prize for Best 3rd Year Student and was awarded an excellence scholarship. He went on to complete an MRes in Philosophy and Religion (with distinction) at Bangor University. After securing funding from the MGSDTP (an ESRC-accredited Doctoral Training Partnership), Nath completed an MA in Social Science Research Methods (with distinction) at the University of Nottingham, where he is currently undertaking his PhD.

Afro-Brazilian Religions in Focus: A Short Documentary

This short documentary, presented by sociologist Nathan Harrison-Clarke, explores the challenges faced by Afro-Brazilian religious communities. Filmed in Brazil, it highlights the rich traditions of Candomblé and Umbanda and the ongoing struggle against religious intolerance.
